Ramkumar Mukhopadhyay, the secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, discusses the topic of translations of Rabindranath Tagore's works into Indian languages. He examines Tagore's presence in Northeast India and provides an analytical reading of several of his short stories and novels in this book.

For more insights into this topic, you can refer to the original sources discussing Mukhopadhyay's work.

"In early 1917, Rabindranath Tagore visited Lincoln, Nebraska, in the United States to give a lecture. The residents there gifted a printing press to the students of Santiniketan. After much delay, due to the First World War, the press eventually made its way back to India. However, the British government was hesitant to grant permission for printing, as Tagore often criticized the rulers in his poems and speeches. Eventually, permission was granted, and Sukumar Ray traveled from Kolkata to Santiniketan to teach Nimai, Bishnu, and others the art of printing.

Tagore felt that there was a need for a publication that would embody an indigenous form, moving away from European and Middle Eastern influences. This led to the establishment of the Visva-Bharati Press in 1923, which significantly transformed the shape, color, layout, and advertising of Bengali books.

The current book also contains eighteen additional writings beyond the Visva-Bharati publications, detailing what Tagore did in the five weeks following his Nobel Prize win and highlighting the contributions of individuals like Pulinbihari Sen, Nabakanta Barua, Binodini Devi, Raghuman Sharma, Aminuddin, Swapna Gupta, and Surya Dada, who kept Tagore close to their hearts."
