Akal Boishakhi by Srijato [Hardcover]

Srijato published his first poetry book, Shesh Chithi (The Last Letter), in 1999, and soon after, he dropped his surname. His 2004 poetry collection Uranta Sab Joker (Flying All Jokers) earned him the Anand Puraskar and the Kritibas Puraskar. In 2014, he received the Bangla Academy Award for his poetry book Karkatkanti'r Desh (The Land of Cancer Conjunction), and in 2020, he was honored with the Sunil Gangopadhyay Award by the West Bengal Poetry Academy.

He has recently been writing novels, and he continues to write songs and screenplays. Srijato has represented Bengali poetry in various national and international platforms, including the Iowa International Writers’ Workshop in the USA in 2006, the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2008, and the Hay Festival in Wales in 2017.

His interests include drinking black coffee, listening to music, traveling to different cities and museums, and dreaming of making films. He enjoys thinking deeply and indulging in idleness.
