In the 1960s, when poet Sunil Gangopadhyay was writing his first novel Yubak-Yubati purely at his own whim, without any urge to publish, the landscape of Bengali novels was undergoing significant changes. How he began his journey, crossing the vast geography of Bengali literature from this novel, is a remarkable achievement. That journey has not yet ceased. In the realm of Bengali novels, Sunil Gangopadhyay has become a institution in himself. His mastery in novel-writing, character portrayal, creation of vivid human representations, sense of time, values, skill in choosing diverse stories, fervor for exploring life, search for truth, and aesthetic sense—he has mastered them all. An arrangement has been made to publish all of Sunil Gangopadhyay’s novels in volumes. Previously, Collected Novels 1 and Collected Novels 2 have been released. Now, Collected Novels 3 is out.
