Is a person complete on their own, or do they become whole through the touch of others? Who do they wait for? And who, once gone, makes them feel that life is pointless? Is love truly a form of caring for another, or is it the cause of all pain?
In the novel "Chuanno", the story of Puti and Sabur’s lives unfolds over fifty-four days. Ena has left Puti, and every day without Ena, Puti counts the passing moments. Deep in sorrow, Puti somehow survives, hoping to drown himself in work. But even that is hard to focus on, and gradually he begins to feel that life is just a meaningless existence. On the other hand, Sabur likes Puti, but he cannot express it. His work at the NGO, his mother, sister, and his sister’s fiancé all seem to somehow embarrass him. The only support he has is his father and Lama Dadu. As the days go by, Puti’s life grows more complicated. Slowly, the broader world of love, and everything beyond it, begins to make sense to him. Living without the person he loves becomes a new lesson in his life. Sabur, too, seeks comfort and love in his own way, wanting to stay by Puti’s side with his unspoken love.
Then, after fifty-four days, Puti receives a phone call. Who made the call? What do they want? And what will Puti do? What about Sabur? What will happen to him now?
"Chuanno" is ultimately a timeless story of love - of a person’s return to life through love.
