Rajshekhar Basu wrote under the pseudonym of Parasuram. His unique style of writing is unparalleled and nobody has come close to being his successor even in the 60 years following his death. Rabindranath Tagore was so awestruck by his book Goddolika that he wrote a letter to Acharya Prafulla Chandra who was Rajshekhar Basu’s supervisor at Bengal Chemical. At the time of his passing, he had written 9 books – Goddolika, Kojjoli, Hanumaner Swapno,Golpo Kolpo,Dhustori Maya,Krishnakali, Nil Tara, Anandi Bai and Chamat Kumari which consisted of 97 stories. After his death, 2 more stories and 1 unfinished story was discovered bringing the total number of stories in this collection to 100. Parasuram Golpo Samgra also includes character illustrations by Rajshekhar Basu to the artist Jatindra Kumar Sen, the letters exchanged between Rabindranath Tagore and Acharya Prafula Chandra and a piece of Rajshekhar Basu’s handwritten manuscript.
