Joy Goswami believes that the poetry a poet writes is not merely an act of writing or a playful exercise. Poetry is his unique anchor for rising above, surviving, and loving. He acknowledges that, like dreams, anything is possible in poetry. Yet, the world of poetry is not just a dream world. Poetry is the poet’s vast, expansive autobiography. Each poem is a page of this autobiography. In this third volume of his collected works, we encounter an important phase of Joy Goswami’s creative journey. Consistently, Joy has been gifting his readers one innovative poetry collection after another. Rather than surrendering himself to the unconscious and writing the same poem repeatedly, each of his books stands apart. In subject, style, language, silence, rhythm, and even in its absence.

This volume includes five of his poetry collections. Here, we have Patar Poshak (The Clothes of Leaves) - a garment that could fall off in a moment. There is Bishad (Sorrow) - where, despite all success, "the river of sorrow flows." There is Ma Nishad - created by the pull of contemporary history and the passage of time. We also find Tomake, Ashcharyamayi (You, the Wonderful One) - a poem blending longing and inability. Then, there was an unexpected event, Kabya Bhenge Pôrômanu-Ghuroni (Poetry Breaking into Atomic Whirlwinds) - Surya-porā Chaī (Sunburnt Ashes) - a collection of poems that marked a turning point.

Along with these collections, this volume also contains seventy-two unpublished and uncollected poems written between 1979 and 1999. There are also twelve sun-drenched poems taken from the pamphlet Sakalbela’r Kobi (The Morning Poet). Altogether, this poetry collection forms a cinematic portrayal of the evolving image of a dedicated, successful poet.
