Feluda's initiation into detective work began in the mountains. The unforgettable story set against the backdrop of Darjeeling is titled Feludar Goyendagiri (Feluda's Detective Debut). At that time, Jatayu had not yet entered the scene, and Topshe was just a young boy. Yet, Feluda, with his remarkable observational skills and rare analytical abilities, was already a force to be reckoned with. From this story, Feluda became an eternal detective character in Bengali literature.
