"Ratan's elder cousin, Paran, has left home a long time ago to become a Baul (folk singer). Without any announcement, he suddenly brought home a woman named Maria as his spiritual companion, turning the life stories of men and women upside down in this traditional family. One day, unexpectedly alone with Ratan, Maria kissed him on the lips. For Ratan, this was a source of shame. He now believes in the politics of the Communist Party, being a party member. Lost in the dream of communism, despite the shame of the kiss, a forbidden joy awakens within him. The story of life begins to unfold around Ratan, written in various shades. His eternally sorrowful alcoholic father Abhiram, his mother Sabitri who ran away with the traveling hero Monojkumar, his elder sister Ratna, Ratna's friend Madhura and her husband Biman, and many others seem to sway in the tale of Ratan's youthful waves. Relationships with everyone are forming around him. Meanwhile, Ratan is moving forward, balancing business, family ties, and the party. After a meeting with Mahendra Biswas from Gopalganj, Ratan's life story took a different turn. Why did Mahendra's daughter come forward to say, 'I am Haimaanti'? What did that distressed girl want to convey? The answer lies in Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's poignant novel 'Noranari Katha'."
