Adhipatya O Lokpragya by Kumar Rana [Hardcover]
Adhipatya O Lokpragya by Kumar Rana [Hardcover]
The relationship of hegemony with education is clear. The trend of lack of opportunity for education among a section of the society which we find in the story of Ekalavya-Shambuka of Mahabharata-Ramayana is still prevalent. As it is a central issue of social dominance, our culture, behavior, everything nurtures this idea of dominance. Unquestioning adherence to tradition invokes irrationality, which in fact supplies hegemony. It is this tradition that influences our public policy; Instead of eradicating hunger, malnutrition and illiteracy, perpetuating them becomes an overt or implicit agenda. There is reason to be disappointed; But the stream of arguments flowing in the heart of the society against deprivation of opportunities and unfairness also makes us hopeful. The conflict between hegemony and folk wisdom becomes clear in this book based on the direct experience of West Bengal and some other parts of India.
