Fragments of imagery come alive with anger, heat, and the music of resistance. From the soil of the homeland to the farthest reaches of space, the cacophony of questions directed at power reverberates. Stories of displaced people, silenced villages, the fires of aggression, and the resurgence of women rise together, defying the silence of death with a resolute promise: We will not forget, for memory is the sharpest weapon.
Anita Agnihotri was born in Kolkata in September 1956. She graduated from Presidency College and the University of Calcutta and later earned a postgraduate degree in Economics from England. A member of the Indian Administrative Service since 1980, she has been a prolific writer since her first short story, Sthanantar (Displacement), was published in Desh magazine.
Her poetry collections include Chandan Gachh, Brishti Asbe, and Sanjoa Bahini Jay. She has written stories and novels for children, such as Akim o Dweeper Manush, Titirer Bandhura, and Akim Niruddesh. Her short story collection, Tarani, and her novels Mahuldihar Din and Jara Bhalo Beshechhilo have garnered critical acclaim.
In 2001, she was awarded the Somen Chanda Memorial Prize for her short story collection Tarani. Through her writing, Anita Agnihotri continues to blend social consciousness with literary excellence.
