The indigenous people of Chile mastered the art of mummification around 5000 BCE, long before Egypt, by burying dead bodies under the scorching sands of the desert.

The 'home' for preserving mummies is the pyramid. However, no specific pyramid has been found to contain mummies to this day. The burial chamber and coffin of Tutankhamun were initially prepared for his mother, Queen Nefertiti. But due to the untimely death of Tutankhamun (at the age of seventeen), the queen buried her son in her own coffin.

In the Capuchin Museum in Palermo, on the Sicilian island of the Mediterranean, there is a museum of mummies. The gallery there displays nearly 8,000 mummies.

In ancient times, Buddhist monks in China and Japan practiced extreme austerity and self-mortification, drying their bodies over time to turn themselves into mummies. Such mummies still exist in the Kaikōji Temple in Japan.

Mummification is now a branch of science. The Amateur Life Extension Foundation in the United States is conducting research on the revival of life. They hope that, in the future, frozen corpses can be reassembled, combining heads and bodies at will, to create living humans - an endeavor akin to challenging God.

This book is enriched with such incredible facts and illustrations.
