We were astounded to find that the travelogue, which was published serially for five years in an esteemed magazine like Bamabodhini, never revealed the name of its author. Even after so many years, while attempting to recover the text, the author's name remained unknown to us.

"Bonbashinir Patra" tells the poignant story of one of the countless widows who, in the 19th century, lived in seclusion in places like Kashi and Vrindavan, separated from their families and homes. Her world of travel is extremely limited, and her companion is another oppressed woman like herself. Although it cannot be confirmed, the author easily becomes the spokesperson for those widows from ordinary households who lived in far-off places relying on God and each other. The pursuit of "eternal, immortal, and undying joy" in Madhuvan, Kumudvan, and Bahulavan is actually a desperate attempt to give voice to their own wounded souls.
