39 Number : 1991 by Jogen Chowdhury [Hardcover]

In the 1990s, artist Jogen Chowdhury created some illustrations for the Ramayana and Mahabharata. A few years later, these illustrations were published in book form. This sketchbook contains several drafts of those works, along with numerous other drawings.  

The continuous movement of lines in the sketchbook, alongside his large paintings, teaches us that art is primarily about practice. Notably, none of the artist’s sketchbooks are formal presentations. Each one is merely an ordinary notebook - its main purpose is to quickly capture what he sees and thinks while on the move.
