38 Number : 89-91 by Jogen Chowdhury [Hardcover]

This sketchbook belongs to the period between 1989 and 1991. At this time, the artist was fully engaged in teaching at Santiniketan.

Within its pages are two remarkable self-portraits. Sketches of house designs, along with recorded prices of clay and other materials, indicate that he was involved in constructing an earthen house.

Some mythological illustrations from this period suggest that he was soon to immerse himself in the illustration of the Ramayana or Mahabharata.

Additionally, glimpses of his poetic sensibilities are evident in the notebook, where he writes: "The yellow flowers' moonlight resonates in my chest / Restless clouds of childhood / Famine / A sudden bloom of wildflowers in my sleep…"
