Renuka Devi Chowdhurani was born on July 31, 1909, in Baghber, Mymensingh. Her father was Atul Chandra Bhattacharya. She was the wife of Dhirendra Kant Lahiri Chowdhury, a distinguished person from the zamindar families of Kalipur and Muktarkachhar in Mymensingh. After the Partition of India, she permanently settled in Kolkata.

The writer's first book was "Rokamari Niramesh Ranna" (1988). "Rokamari Amish Ranna" was edited by her daughter-in-law, Sheela Lahiri Chowdhury, from her manuscript. Additionally, there are two other manuscripts on desserts and snacks written by the author that are awaiting publication. Renuka Devi Chowdhurani passed away on April 28, 1985.

Her contribution to Bengali culinary literature continues to be cherished.
