Upanyas Samagra 2 by Suchitra Bhattacharya [Hardcover]
Suchitra Bhattacharya is a highly acclaimed figure in Bengali fiction. Even at the time of her sudden departure, she was deeply immersed in creation and remained within a broad circle of public admiration. Over her approximately twenty-two-year-long career as a novelist, she wrote a vast number of works. Through her writing, she continuously challenged and critiqued the essence of contemporary society. In each of her thought-provoking novels, Suchitra unflinchingly stripped away the social masks we wear. She created intense female characters, and while her sensitivity to women set her apart, she was, in essence, a humanist writer. Alongside the problems, crises, resolutions, protests, and self-torment of middle-class life, Suchitra also highlighted the various forms of alienation and loneliness in urban society. Because she was intimately familiar with the issues she wrote about, her stories resonated deeply with readers, bringing them back to familiar experiences again and again.
The second volume of her Collected Novels includes twelve of her works: Hemantar Pakhi, Dheu Aashe Dheu Jai, Dhushar Bishad, Gobhir Oshukh, Aniket, Bhalo Meye Kharap Meye, Sheshbelae, Porbas, Nandini, Phaki, Chena Mukher Achenna Mukher, and Saheli.
