Upanyas Samagra 3 by Suchitra Bhattacharya [Hardcover]
Suchitra Bhattacharya was a highly acclaimed writer in Bengali fiction. Even at the time of her sudden passing, she was deeply engaged in her creative work and remained within a wide circle of public admiration. In her approximately twenty-two-year career as a novelist, she wrote extensively. Through her works, she incisively explored the hearts of her contemporary society, daring to tear apart the social facades of the time. Her novels, each one a catalyst for discussion, boldly confronted the social and emotional truths of the world.
Suchitra was known for creating strong, complex female characters, and her sensitivity to the female experience made her distinctive. However, at her core, she was a humanist writer. While she delved deeply into the issues and struggles of middle-class life—conflict, defiance, self-purging—she also keenly observed the various forms of isolation and alienation within urban society. Her stories resonate with readers because they reflect real, lived experiences that she herself understood and portrayed intimately.
In the third volume of her Complete Novels, eight of her most important works are included: Onno Basanto (Another Spring), Phire Dekha (Looking Back), Shyamali, Megh Pahad (Clouds on the Mountain), Palabar Path Nei (There is No Way to Escape), Arpita, Eka Jibon (A Solitary Life), and Neel Ghuruni (Blue Cyclone).
