The 'Anandabazar Patrika Usage Guide' series is dedicated to exploring what is considered standard practice in language, sentence structure, word choice, meaning, grammatical rules, idioms, and other relevant aspects. If language is a medium to convey one's thoughts to others, then how should that medium be used, what should be the structure of sentences and choice of words, and how can our language be consistent with our natural idioms—this series essentially indicates those methods. The origins, development, and transformation of language—everything is covered in the planned circle of this series. At the same time, it is also thought of some dictionaries and glossaries that have not been written in Bengali before. The person who has expertise in a particular subject is responsible for writing the book on that subject. Not every opinion published in the usage guide series is of Anandabazar Patrika. But that does not matter. This newspaper actually aims to create an environment where individuals who are proficient in various subjects can freely express their opinions and decisions.

Anyone who writes understands the various problems that arise when writing. Should we write ২৫শে বৈশাখ or ২৫ বৈশাখ? ২ March or ২রা March? To denote the year, should we write ৯৪ or ’৯৪? Telugu or Telegu? Plaster or Plaster? Ingot or Ingot? We often don't remember when Rabindranath's 'Noukadubi' or Nazrul's 'Agnibina' or Kshirod Prasad's 'Alibaba' was published. When was poet Toru Dutt born? In which year did they die? When to use a comma, when to use a hyphen? Similar problems arise in editing as well. Editors prepare press copies of various authors' works, ensuring the accuracy of information, the correctness of punctuation marks, and uniform spelling. Authors and editors alike rely on various dictionaries, glossaries, and reference books. English language authors and editors have many helpful dictionaries at their disposal, such as the Oxford University Press's Writers' Dictionary or the Penguin Dictionary for Writers and Editors. When in doubt, they refer to such dictionaries. However, there is no such dictionary in the Bengali language. To fill that gap, this collection is planned. This unique dictionary is written considering the daily needs of Bengali language writers, readers, and editors. It contains a variety of information, resolves many doubts, and provides rules and techniques for the use of words and language, spelling, and punctuation.
