Selina Hossain was born on June 14, 1947, in Rajshahi city. Her father was A.K. Mosharraf Hossain, and her mother was Mariamnessa Bakul. Her first collection of short stories, Utsu Theke Nirantor (From the Source, Continuously), was published in 1969. A highly awarded and honored writer, she has authored numerous novels, short story collections, essays, and children's literature. Her novels are included in the curriculum of several universities, and some have been the subject of academic research. Many of her stories and novels have been translated into various languages.
