Saratkumar Mukhopadhyay
Saratkumar Mukhopadhyay was born on August 15, 1931. He graduated from the University of Calcutta and later received a postgraduate certificate in Business Management from the UK. Until 1983, he held significant positions in various industries. Now, he is fully dedicated to literary writing. His first story and poem were published when he was just twenty years old. From the beginning, he was associated with the iconic Krittibas magazine. To date, he has published nearly thirty books across various literary genres, including poetry, stories, novels, translations, essays, and travelogues, leaving his mark in each field.
This esteemed figure in modern Bengali literature has been invited multiple times as a guest to universities around the world. Honored with the Katha Award in 1991, Saratkumar is known for his keen interest in world civilizations and cultures. In 2009, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his poetry collection, Ghum-er Borir Moto Chand ("The Moon Like a Sleeping Pill").
