Krishna Bose was a multifaceted talent and a prominent figure in the public life of Bengal and India. She was born on December 26, 1930, in Dhaka. Her father, Charu Chandra Chaudhuri, was a renowned scholar, and her mother was Chhaya Devi Chaudhurani. In December 1955, she married the eminent freedom fighter and renowned pediatrician, Shishir Kumar Bose.

After completing her post-graduation in English literature from the University of Calcutta, she taught at City College (South) in Kolkata for forty years and served as the principal for eight years. Later, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Jadavpur constituency three times. As a Member of Parliament, Krishna Bose became popular in Bengal's politics and highly respected in Indian politics. From 1999 to 2004, she served as the chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs.

A few years after her marriage to Shishir Bose, Krishna became actively involved in the activities of the Netaji Research Bureau established at Netaji Bhavan in Kolkata. After Shishir Bose's death on September 30, 2000, Krishna Bose served as the chairperson of the Netaji Research Bureau until her death. She was also the president of the Institute of Child Health in Kolkata, where Shishir was the director. Her accomplished sons are Sugata Bose and Sumantra Bose.

Krishna Bose passed away on February 22, 2020, in Kolkata.
