Nagarpare Rupnagar by Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay [Hardcover]
Nagarpare Rupnagar by Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay [Hardcover]
The main character of the book is Jyotirani. An entire world revolves around her. Jyotirani's husband approaches her not with love, but with a kind of violent resentment. Yet, she continuously tries to love him. In trying to do what’s best for her only son, Situ, she becomes distant from him.
This is a remarkable book about Jyotirani's individuality, her son, her household, and the people close and distant to her. The character of Jyotirani's brother-in-law, Kalinath, is particularly intriguing. Though his presence is minimal, through his diary, the author gives readers a brief glimpse into his mind, for which the author deserves appreciation.
