The profound wisdom of Sunity Kumar Chattopadhyay encompassed an endless scope of scholarship. Even Rabindranath Tagore himself referred to him as a "Vachacharya" (Master of Language). Sunity Kumar’s true nature was that of an explorer. His essays, following this path of continuous exploration, always arrived at new insights. He believed that without a proper understanding of the ancient, one could not comprehend the present. Ashin Dasgupta wrote in a discussion, "Rabindranath's vision of a greater humanity emerges in various places in Sunity Kumar's writings. In these glimpses, ancient scholarship blends with the needs of the present."
A collection of Sunity Kumar's essays, titled Sanskritiki, was published at different times, in various periodicals or as introductions to books. The first two volumes were published during his lifetime. These volumes present his deep thoughts on topics ranging from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Sufi philosophy to the spread and influence of the Sanskrit language in Asia, Indian music and Rabindranath, and the Roman script in India. After his death, two more volumes of the collection were published. The essays in the third volume discuss various aspects of Indian culture and issues such as the education crisis, language crisis, and national crisis. The fourth volume includes topics on global culture, with references to Socrates and Sophocles alongside Dara Shikoh. Alongside discussions on modern European culture and art, the volume also features the first Bengali discourse on African Negro art.
Thus, the complete Sanskritiki was published. This work, the product of the unbounded intellectual endeavors of Vachacharya Sunity Kumar, evokes an immense sense of global cultural awareness in the Indian mind.
