Rupdarshi Sangraha 1 by Gour Kishor Ghosh

He set out to witness the essence of life - not just through an external perspective, but by looking from within. He explored countless ways of seeing and countless kinds of viewpoints. In his own words: "I’ve travelled with vigilant eyes, day and night. What I saw, what I liked, I brought it forward..." As he sought to perceive the essence of life, he became a visionary. At times, he was a sketch artist, other times a commentator, a critic, and on rare occasions, he presented a profound, almost prophetic vision in his outspoken thoughts.

He entered the realm of humorous writing armed with a sketchbook. His sketches were simple line drawings, yet remarkable works of art. The urge to look from within was embedded in the very folds of his sketches. Eventually, he transitioned from a sketch artist to a commentator. He observed everyday events, selecting what to report, and then marked those events through his commentary.

In his sketches or sketch-inspired writings, he became a creator of delightful satire and wit. In his journalistic work, he emerged as a perceptive, confident, and fearless individual, brimming with belief and awareness. It was his responsibility to inform the world, through his writings, of what is timeless and virtuous. Here, his role was not just that of an observer, but also that of a presenter.

Under the pen name "Rupdorshi" (The Visionary), Gourkishore Ghosh gave his readers "the many-colored pictures of life," a collection of his deeply introspective and satirical writings. These works are now presented in two volumes, where his insightful and sharply ironic creations are compiled. This volume includes Rupdorshi's sketches, circus, dancing puppets, his playful and satirical writings, water discourse, casual conversations, if heaven exists anywhere, memories, The Complete Tales of Brajdar, and various other writings.
