Santu has accompanied Kakababu to the Himalayas this time. They are currently staying in an old stone dome, which was likely built by some Englishman to enjoy the view of Mount Everest. Just a short walk from there, the Everest peak can be clearly seen. Santu thinks that no other Bengali boy his age has probably seen Everest from so close. However, he still doesn't understand the real purpose behind Kakababu's visit here. Even the two Sherpa companions are growing restless.
